GNOME GUI tweaks....

after a strong 6+ hrs of coding,planning and finishing of a lot of backlogged work.., I Felt like doing something else, just to take my mind off code.

Was playing with GNOME and decided to see what can I do to make it feel more user friendly. Did not like some of the defaults. so here they are, the changes (gnome 2.8, debian sarge sable)

yeah i know there are various command line options, but I really wanted to see what can I change without getting to a command line.

More Friendly Naulitus : for speed, wanted to start the main file browser without the side pane

View>Side Pane (off) & save

These rest are based on GCONF:
Start Gconf:

/apps/nautilus/preferences

enable_delete=off

desktop_is_home_dir

sort_directories_first

start_with_sidebar

start_with_location_bar

window_always_new

/apps/metacity/general/

disable_workarounds (you might not like this, xmms playlist,equ and window overlaps with this and you cannot change it), I keep this off

/desktop/gnome/lockdown/
disable_command_line [no 'Run'... he he he.. but theres always xterm, aterm etc.. and Alt + Fn]
