acer aspire 5002nwlmi
Been planning to put this up for sometime.
Got myself an ACER ASPIRE 5002NWLMi laptop. This piece has the amazing turion 64bit chip from AMD. What a Beauty!
Debian Sarge (amd64 port) runs flawlessy on it and Gnome rocks!
Had to use Ndiswrapper to enable the wireless broadband.
The only thing i had to do was work on the ACPI code. check acpi.sourceforge.net for details.
For anyone having this piece and not wanting to go thru the process of patching the kernel mail me, i got the patched code and apci binary (decompiled, fixed and re-compiled) for the linux kernel 2.6.15.
With this the battery status works and suspend-to-disk features work flawlessy.
Read about the Debian system setup here
Now im spoilt. AMD64 is the only way to go!
Tip: In Case you need to connect to a (802.11) 'b' wireless network (this laptop supports b & g )
this is the command line: "iwpriv network_type b"
